I have searched the city and discovered some of the most obscure and off-the-beaten-path things to see and do in LA, so do not worry, my fellow explorers.
Let’s start by discussing the Culver City Museum of Jurassic Technology. You read that right—there is a museum devoted to the Jurassic period. It’s not what you think, though. This museum combines an art gallery with a science center and pure whimsy. There is something for everyone, from a collection of deteriorating dice to an exhibition on the history of trailer parks. Don’t forget to stop by the rooftop tea room of the museum, where you can enjoy a warm beverage while thinking about the mysteries of the cosmos.
The Los Angeles Flower District, located in downtown LA, comes next on our list. It might not seem like the most exciting place to visit, but I assure you that it’s a feast for the senses. The flower district is filled with endless rows of vibrant flowers, from small orchids to enormous sunflowers. The best part, though? The cost of flower bouquets can be much lower than it would be at your neighborhood florist. Additionally, the fragrant air will give you the impression that you are walking on clouds.
Visit the Arts District in downtown LA to get a taste of the city’s thriving street art scene. With vibrant murals and installations adorning every street, this once-drab neighborhood has been transformed into a creative hotspot. Visit the Angel City Brewery so you can enjoy a cold beer while admiring the murals on the building’s walls. And if you’re fortunate, you might see a street artist in action.
Visit the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades if you’re seeking some nature in the midst of the sprawling city. This peaceful haven boasts a serene lake, lush gardens, and a shrine honoring harmony and peace. Find your inner zen by taking a stroll around the property and breathing in the fresh air.
Let’s talk about food as our final point. Even though LA is known for its incredible cuisine, some of the best restaurants are hidden away in odd locations. For instance, Kang Ho-dong Baekjeong in Koreatown is the place to go if you’re in the mood for some excellent Korean BBQ. It’s always a good sign when a busy location is crowded with locals. And if you’re feeling daring, try the pork jowl; it’ll change the way you eat.
And then go to Honeymee in downtown Los Angeles for dessert. You won’t find a creamier, more delicious soft serve ice cream anywhere but at this tiny stand. What about the secret component? Honeycomb. Yes, each cone has a piece of sweet, crunchy honeycomb on top that elevates the ice cream to a whole new level.

And while the typical tourist attractions are undoubtedly worthwhile visiting, there are times when the little-known gems leave the biggest impression.
